Who We Are

Aspire is a community-focused political movement based in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, led by Mayor Lutfur Rahman. The party brings together experienced local representatives committed to delivering real change, strong public services and a council that works for everyone.

Formed by elected councillors with a shared vision for fairness, accountability and community leadership, Aspire represents a new chapter in local politics — one rooted in listening to residents and taking action on the issues that matter most.

Since its formation, Aspire has grown into a strong and trusted political force across the borough. Prior to the 2018 elections, Aspire councillors played a key role as the main opposition on the council, holding decision-makers to account and advocating for local residents.

In 2022, Aspire secured a historic victory, winning majority control of Tower Hamlets Council with 24 out of 45 seats. Lutfur Rahman was also re-elected as Mayor, reflecting strong public support for Aspire’s vision and track record.

Today, Aspire continues to focus on delivering for residents — investing in housing, education, public services, community safety and support for those who need it most — building a fairer, stronger Tower Hamlets for all.

Our Borough, Our Responsibility

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets is one of the most dynamic and historically significant parts of East London. From its maritime and industrial legacy to its role in shaping the identity of modern London, the borough has long stood at the heart of change, resilience and progress.

Today, Tower Hamlets is home to one of the most diverse communities in the United Kingdom. Its rich social fabric includes people of many cultures, faiths and backgrounds, with a proud British Bangladeshi community at the centre of the borough’s civic, cultural and economic life. This diversity continues to define Tower Hamlets in its schools, businesses, arts and neighbourhoods.

Our Vision for Tower Hamlets

We believe every child deserves the best start, every family deserves security and every neighbourhood deserves meaningful investment. Our policies are shaped through doorstep conversations, residents’ assemblies and the lived experience of our councillors, most of whom grew up in or continue to live in the borough.

Aspire is proudly independent, but we believe progress comes through partnership. We work with civic society, trade unions, faith groups, community organisations and businesses who share our ambition to make Tower Hamlets the fairest, greenest and most opportunity-rich place in London to live, learn and work.
