ASPIRE’S ACTIONS ARE TRANSFORMING TOWER HAMLETS

I am a 42-years resident of Tower Hamlets, and all of my children have been educated in the borough and are doing well in life. I am proud of the achievements delivered by the Aspire Party under the leadership of Mayor Lutfur Rahman and our councillors. Their actions are transforming Tower Hamlets for the better.

LUTFUR CONTINUED A LEGACY OF AMBITION

As London’s first mayor, I opened our city up to the world. And after I left office, Lutfur picked up my legacy and continued it in Tower Hamlets — funding Bobbies on the beat, expanding public services amid austerity cuts, paying the Living Wage, and building more affordable housing than anywhere else in the country.

Ken Livingstone First Mayor of London

THE MAYOR’S HOUSING COMMITMENT IS VITAL

We all know there is acute overcrowding in Tower Hamlets, That’s why I am happy to see the Mayor’s visionary commitment to house-building targets in the borough – particularly family-sized homes. Bringing almost 22,000 THH homes back under Council management was also a huge relief to residents, and the Mayor’s advocacy of residents at his twice-weekly surgeries is unique and effective.

TOWER HAMLETS NEEDS A VISIONARY MAYOR

Tower Hamlets was once transformed by Labour. But today’s administration is more reminiscent of the era of hopelessness and service failures that me and my colleagues fought against in the discredited Liberal administration. A borough famed for opposing fascism and racism appears to no longer address their corrosive effects. As the first Bangladeshi woman councilor and a former deputy council leader, I can see that now, more than ever, we need a dynamic visionary mayor who puts this borough first.

REAL PROGRESS FOR WOMEN THROUGH KEY INITIATIVES

I am proud of the positive change delivered by the Aspire administration. These initiatives have already made a real difference for thousands of women — including new women’s centres, more than 20 youth centres, and free swimming for women aged 16 and above.

LUTFUR’S RECORD IN THIS BOROUGH IS SECOND TO NONE

We continue to live with the crippling effects of austerity, and change is needed more than ever. Lutfur’s return is very good news – his record in this borough is second to none. He showed himself committed to improving the lives of ordinary people. On his watch, local schools became nationally-recognised centres of excellence. I believe he remains just as committed to these goals and principles as ever.

LUTFUR RAHMAN IS A VISIONARY LEADER

I have always supported Lutfur Rahman—both during his time as Mayor and when he was not. I stood by him during the most challenging periods because I strongly believe in his integrity and leadership.

PUBLIC SAFETY HAS BEEN STRENGTHENED

Under the leadership of the People’s Mayor, Lutfur Rahman, Tower Hamlets has seen real progress and decisive action. Public safety has been strengthened through anti-crime initiatives and new CCTV cameras across the borough.

A REVITALISED BANGLATOWN UNDER LUTFUR’S LEADERSHIP

I am so happy we have a Mayor who listens, cares, and delivers on his pledges. I would like to express my particular appreciation for the improvements to Brick Lane and Banglatown.

I SUPPORT THE MAYOR’S AMBITIOUS HOUSING PLANS

Tower Hamlets faces severe overcrowding, which is why I welcome the Mayor’s clear and ambitious commitment to house-building in the borough, particularly the delivery of 6,000 family-sized homes by May 2026.

1-HOUR FREE PARKING IS PARTICULARLY WELCOME

It’s amazing what Mayor Rahman and the Aspire administration have achieved in just 2 short years. As a small business owner, the 1-hour free parking is particularly welcome, along with the Council’s many business support and apprenticeship programmes.
